Brownhills Colts U10s Vs Tipton Town West

The first of the two games was against unknown Divison 3 team Tipton Town West. The Colts managment decided on an experimental lineup as this was a friendly match and would give them a chance to try players in different roles. Three of the Colts usual starters George Toddington,
Sam Motton and Lee Powell began as subs with Alex Wragg, Keegan Gray and Adam Keeling taking their places. Goalie Tommy Day swapped places Striker Sam Perry to complete a very different line up. Tipton Town won the toss and kicked off, Jack O'Brien was quickest to react and blocked a Tipton pass which re-bounded to Adam Keeling who controlled and passed to Tommy Day who in turn played a one-two with Jack O'Brien, Tommy then recieved the ball back and passed again to Jack in a great position, Jack then scored a brilliant goal passed the advancing keeper within 30 seconds of the kick off, possibly the fastest goal the Colts have ever scored, all down to teamwork!!. Brownhills started where they left off over two weeks ago with some more fantastic passing and moving and soon were 2-0 infront with Jack O'Brien once again on the scoresheet after great work by Adam Keeling who was playing the kind of football we see him do so well in training. Keegan Gray made surging runs down the wing once again passing well and causing the Tipton defence plenty of problems with his good ball skills. Alex Wragg playing along side Tom Davies impressed with his clearances and constant running. Just before half time Tommy Day made it 3-0 with a powerful run and finish, the first half score could of been more but for the Tipton goalie who made some good saves

Half time 3 - 0

The second half saw and unchanged Colts battle well against the Tipton Town boys who came out stronger. Sam Perry made several important saves and Tom "The Heading Machine" Davies got on the end of nearly every ball that found its way into the Colts box. Tiptons pressure finally paid off with a well taken goal due to a mix up in defence, this fired up the Colts who rested some of their players. George Toddington, Sam Motton and Lee Powell came on for the very very impressive
Adam Keeling, Keegan Gray and Alex Wragg. The Colts piled on the pressure even more and forced mutiple throw-ins and corners, five minutes from time Lee Powell crossed a great ball into the penalty area which the keeper could only deflect toward Tommy Day for a simple tap in and his second goal and the Colts fourth. A great win for the Colts against a team 2 Divisions above them. All the parents were impressed with a brilliant team performance!!

Brownhills Colts U10s Vs Cresswell Wanderers

The Colts second friendly of the morning was against Cresswell Wanderers, again a team 2 Divisions above. A few changes were made to the team that started the first game and great passing was again the reason the Colts caused the Cresswell defence so many problems, Keegan Gray and
Adam Keeling stood out in the first half with some great play and tracking back to help out in defence. Cresswell found it difficult to deal with the Tommy Day and Jack O'Brien partnership, both had great awareness of where the other one was and were unlucky not to have scored in the first half.

Half Time 0 - 0

A tough, battling second half saw Tommy Day go narrowly wide with 2 good free kicks. Sam Motton and Lee Powell worked well in a very muddy and sticky midfield creating chances but not breaking down a good Cresswell defence, the same could be said for the Colts defence with
George Toddington and Tom Davies holding the Divison 3 team back with help from goalie
Sam "Pezza" Perry who at one point dived at the feet of a advancing Cresswell striker to take the ball off his boot. The turning point came 5 minutes from time when good work from Jack O'Brien enabled Lee Powell to put a great ball just outside the Cresswell penalty, Adam Keeling clipped the ball on for Tommy Day to score, a great team goal. The Colts managed to hold on for the last few minutes with everybody helping out in defence. Another fantastic team performance.
