The Lamp have a special half term showing for this magical movie on Saturday 16th February at 2 o’clock.

When their kingdom becomes trapped in perpetual winter, fearless Anna joins forces with mountaineer Kristoff and his reindeer sidekick to find Anna’s sister, Snow Queen Elsa and break her icy spell.

Whist Drive

Remember when no school or church hall went without its annual whist drive or beetle drive?

Brownhills Community Centre launch our new monthly group on Tuesday 19th February from 12.30-2.30pm (so you can still pick up the grandkids).

We start with a whist drive, but future sessions will alternate with a beetle drive.

Don’t worry about the rules as no experience is necessary and beginners are welcome.

£2.50 per person (includes refreshments) just turn up on the day.

Spoke in the Lamp

After a terrific opening night in January, our open mic poetry and performance event returned on 13th February and is now set to become a regular fixture with the next event at 7.30 on Wednesday 13th March.

Al Barz is our Master of Ceremonies, the bar will be open, there’s tea and coffee available plus a raffle!

Performers and listeners are welcome, so get yourself along and book a slot to declaim the most purple of your prose…

Mind, Body & Spirit Fayre at The Lamp

The Lamp co-hosts this unique weekend featuring spiritualist readers, therapists & healers, crafts & gift stalls from the local area, along with some fabulous talks and workshops, organised by our friends at Angel Earth Events.

Divas at the Lamp

On Saturday 16th March, Alison Room brings Divas—the Legends to the Lamp, a show celebrating three of the world’s greatest female vocalists featuring songs that defined the careers of Barbra Streisand, Liza Minelli, and Shirley Bassey, taking her audience on a fantastic musical journey that recounts the lives, loves and highlights of these iconic performers.

If you’ve an event or family occasion coming up in the New Year, don’t forget that Brownhills Community Centre have rooms for hire for up to 100 people.

Two of our larger activity spaces have recently been re-fitted and now have kitchen facilities.

Car parking is free along with the wi-fi and the Centre is easy to find for your out-of-town guests.

Sunshine on a Rainy Day

Sunshine on Leith is based on the stage hit of the same name, featuring music by pop-folk band The Proclaimers.

The film follows the stories of Davy and Ally, who have to re-learn how to live life in Edinburgh after coming home from serving as soldiers in Afghanistan.

Time Out describe the movie as ‘a wet,sloppy dog kiss of a film’ and the BBC’s Mark Kermode says ‘I shed a tear within the first 10 minutes, and spent the rest of the movie beaming like a gibbering, love-struck fool.’

Life is a Cabaret, old chum

Winter Festival

Come along to our Winter Craft Gift and Food Festival at the Centre on Sunday 18 November from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm.

Admission is free and there are loads of stalls packed with gift ideas and tempting treats for the festive season.

Our friends from the Reading Rooms will be serving delicious cake and hot drinks from their pop up coffee shop.

Good Guys Concert

BMTC are an award winning local theatre company who rehearse at the Lamp and perform at Cannock’s ‘Prince of Wales’ and Lichfield’s ‘Garrick’ Theatre.

Hot on the high heels of their sensational production of ‘Bad Girls,’ the company bring their ‘Good Guys’ show to the Lamp at 7.30 pm on Friday 24th and a special matinee show at 2.30 pm on Saturday 25th November.

Crooners Concert

Dust off your dickie bow, get the tux out of mothballs and get ready to croon along to classics from the repertoire of Rat Pack favourites Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davies Jr.

Our Singalong Cinema Season continues with a special Halloween presentation plus there’s a couple of events for the artists and connoisseurs and a charity showcase in aid of the Royal Park Charity for those living with brain injury.

Our classes and groups are starting up again, we have belly dancing, Tae Kwon-Do, Yoga and singing classes, along with many others.

Charity Concert at the Lamp

In aid of the Royal Park Charity for those living with brain injury, Backstreet Theatre Company, vocal harmony quartet 3QA and Followspot Productions have joined forces for a one night only concert on Saturday 6th October at 7.30 pm.

The show features songs from the shows and the hit parade of the last 50 years and maybe a few favourites from the download charts for the youngsters!

Art Classes

Wildlife artist Shane Wiseman runs his popular pastels workshop at the Centre on Saturday 13th October & 10th November from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. (Cheetah Cub October, Cheetah Head November)

Halloween Special

The Lamp have a special singalong screening of cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show (certificate 15) on Saturday 27th October.

Art Show 27th October

For one day only the Community Centre is taken over by a group of talented artists from a local group under the tutelage of Pat Ryan from nearby Pelsall.

There is a wide range of media on display including pencil, oil, acrylic, watercolour and pastel.

Come along to this great exhibition and sale of original works.
